I am on a continuing journey of artistic discovery, developing my own distinctive voice in mixed media jewelry design and papier mâché. I enjoy the freedom of combining several techniques and media including wire sculpting and wrapping, polymer clay, my own handmade and textured paper, and surface ornamentation using acrylic and gouache paints, textile inks, gold, silver, and potpourri leaf, and various preservative finishes. My sleep at night is filled with dreams of new elements and methods of construction to create my art jewelry and paper forms. I wake up with a new vision in my mind and my challenge in the studio is to transform that vision into a gratifying experience of color and texture.
I have developed a wire sculpting signature that I call "Fleur-de-Lis Style" as I often use variations on the classic fleur-de-lis motif as a basis for design.
I prefer the ever-evolving richness and patina of the base metals—copper (my favorite), nickel silver, brass, and particularly bronze, used alone or in combination.
I love that little gasp of excitement released when one of my pieces speaks to a buyer—so I approach each piece of art jewelry as an individual work of art, an extension of my own essence that I release into the world … in hope that it will bring someone just a little bit of joy.
